New York
Jardin Galerie headquarters are located in New York City and many of the contributors are as well.
Le Jardin A L'Ouest
A sister company to Jardin Galerie, Le
Jardin A L'Ouest was
founded in 1971 by John Hiigli and his wife Dominique Hiigli. The children
that attend Le Jardin contribute regularly to a special exhibit
all for them called Running
Stream.
Each child's file is a record of his/her development over time with
the most recent work at the top.

The Children’s Art Carnival
(CAC)
Located in a small townhouse on a
quiet street in historic Harlem, just off the banks of the Hudson
River. The
Children's Art Carnival is
a nationally recognized community based arts program founded by Betty
Blayton-Taylor. Its mission is to foster creative thinking through
the arts, to stimulate a love of learning for education in general,
and to provide beauty and discipline in the lives of young people.

Originally an outreach program of the Museum of Modern Art, CAC has
existed as an independent community school for the past 26 years.
Faculty believe creative thinking is a necessary ingredient of intellectual
development. Theme-based arts activities draw on collage, puppetry,
3-D construction, painting, ceramics, photography, videography, cartooning,
illustration, drama, textile design, computer graphics and other
media. CAC programs include in-school, after-school and Saturday
programs for youth, teacher training workshops and parent advocacy.
On February 11 2004 Jardin Galerie held their first joint exhibition
focused around the theme of family. Since then we have collaborated
six more times in just two years.

Lycee Francais
In addition to these International sites Jardin Galerie has partnered with
many local New York City schools. Our very first such show was with the Lycee
Francais de New York on March 26 2000. The Lycee
Francais de New York was founded
in 1935 with three classes and two dozen students but has grown steadily and
is now housed in a new modern building designed by the same architect who designed
the Rose center at the Museum of Natural History. While the mission of the
LFNY is to prepare children to be responsible citizens with a thorough knowledge
of the French language and culture, the English program aims at incorporating
the essential elements of an American education. It is this blending of these
two goals which has given birth to their new and thoroughly modern school on
the east side of Manhattan. Our spring show on March 23, 2006 with the Lycee
Francais (Day Skies/Night Skies) marked the fifth collaborative effort involving
Le Jardin a l’Ouest, Lycee Francais de New York, and Jardin Galerie.

Jardin Galerie has also partnered with For Arts Sake, an established Westside
neighborhood after school art program several times, mounting very interesting
exhibits on Animals, Trees and a new theme suggested by the leader of For Art’s
Sake, Debbe Heler-Lewkowicz called My Secret Garden on March 3 2005. For Art’s
Sake includes children of all ages from all the major West Side public schools
and many private schools as well including Crossroads Middle School, Calhoun,
Abraham Heschel School, Rodeph Sholem, P.S. 163, P.S. 87 and P.S. 199.

Cuba
Jardin Galerie’s first international contact came about as a result of Dominique Hiigli’s trip to Cuba in 2002 with a friend. While visiting Havana and the surrounding countryside Dominique met the young Cuban Painter FRANCISCO
GORDILLO ARREDONDO.

Francisco Gordillo was born in Habana on the 11th
of September 1964. He is a graduate of the Academia de Bellas Artes "San
Alejandro". Francisco gave Dominique one of his finest paintings
from that period and later in 2002 sent a selection of paintings done
by local school children. These paintings became the first international
exhibition at Jardin Galerie.
For a listing of exhibitions by Francisco please visit the Jamaican / Caribbean Biographies here

Italy
In the summer of 2002 John Hiigli began a collaboration with Alessandro Segalini, his friend from Piacenza, Italy.

Alessandro has studied and worked in the field of
visual communication, typography and art in Italy, Helsinki, Finland
and now at Izmir University of Economics, Faculty of Fine Arts and
Design, in Turkey. Alessandro and his sister Raffaella both donated
small childhood works. Dr. Alessandro Segalini has been a constant
advisor and collaborator of Jardin Galerie and jardingalerie.org.
Also a collaborator with JG and from Italy is calligrapher
and artist Monia
Dengo.
See her work in our exhibit Art for Children
She
has been teaching HANDWRITING AS ART to children and adults for
many years. The KIDS - BOOKS section in her web site offers books
on handwriting and a short course for adults who desire to improve
their own handwriting and use it as model to teach to others.
The KIDS - EDUCATIONAL section in her web site offers free additional material
to learn and teach italic handwriting.

Russia & Australia
In August 2003 Hiigli attended the International Symmetry Festival where he met Tatiana Bonch-Osmolovskaya.

Tatiana was born in Simferopol, Crimea, near the Black Sea. When she was fifteen years old she moved with her family to Moscow, where she studied at the University of Moscow. She is a scientist, an artist and a poet. Tatiana introduced Jardin Galerie to the leader of an art studio in the village of Udel’noe, outside of Moscow led by Nadezhda Sedova. Whose students painted scenes from children’s fairy tales that are so detailed it is hard to believe they were done by children under the age of seven years.

Tatiana now resides in Melbourne, Australia and her daughter Polina
if a frequent contributor to jardingalerie.org. Polina is six years
old and attends kindergarten in Kensington, NSW, Australia.

Arnolfini Archives
Through other friendships made at the 2003 Symmetry Festival in Budapest Hiigli began working in late 2003 with the Zsubori family in Szigetszentmiklos, Hungary.

Ervin Zsubori is know in and around Budapest as an
Electrographer, photographer, fairy tale writer, book and CD-ROM designer.
He is also the founder of the Arnolfini
Archives (with Ira Horvath), since 1993; founder of Arnolfini
Galleries (with Ira Horvath), since 2000; founder member of Arnyekkotok
Art Team (with Zsuzsa Dardai, Janos Saxon-Szasz and Istvan Tenke),
since 1989; Founder-editor of international art journal Arnyekkotok co-media
(with Arnyekkotok Art Team), since 1990.

JG exhibits some of his art in an exhibit called Art
For Children
“Arnolfini Archives with the help of friendly mediation
got into touch with New York based Jarden Galerie dealing with children’s
works in November 2003. This institution made possible for us to
introduce our children’s
works in the international section of its website. In addition to
this the Arnolfini Archives has joined some projects of Jardin Galerie.
We have organized and sent pictures for shows from works of our children,
our friends children and pupils of the Budapest based Lauder School.” ––
Ervin
Ervin's children Eszter and Barnabas have been
regular contributors to JG's exhibit and never cease to amaze us!

Children's Fund
In 2004 Jarden Galerie began working with Richard and Angela Dalton, parents of two children (Charlie and Eva) enrolled at Le Jardin a l’Ouest.

Angie Dalton volunteered to do fundraising and began
assisting the gallery in making important international connections
through her extensive contacts as an international banker. She introduced
Jardin Galerie to the VCF. The
Vietnam Children’s Fund remembers the families and the children
lost in Vietnam’s long wars. The goal of the fund is to close
the past, looking to the future by building schools. The mission is
to create a “living memorial” – a network of elementary
schools throughout Vietnam. Last year we exhibited eighty works done
by children all over Vietnam, and our collaboration continues into
2006:
We are now linked to the VCF through their website here

Finland
In 2004 Jardin Galerie also added Art For Children to the web-site: art considered to be of interest to children or that has been created specifically for children. A good example is the work of Alexander Reichstein, a well- known European artist who was born in Moscow in 1957 but emigrated to Finland in 1990.

He is the inventor of the CURIOUS CREATURES, an interactive
approach to art in which the work of the adult artist-sculptor is opened
to the creative activity of children. Typical is his series of inter-transformable
human and animals forms that can be joined in relatively unlimited
combinations.

Guardian
Angels National School
In 2005 we added another new school to Jardin Galerie International, thanks to another parent from the student body at our sister organization, Le Jardin a l’Ouest.

Aisling McEvoy is the mother of Ciara (Les Lilas). Aisling McEvoy is also a Board Member but before moving to New York she taught second grade (1982-1987) in Dublin at the Guardian Angels National School (‘Scoil Naisiunta na nAingeal’ in Gaelic). When Aisling learned about JG she contacted the headmaster, Walter Cullinane and spoke to him about collaborating. As a result the Kindergarten class at Guardian Angels will exhibit with us and their work will be entered in Jardin Galerie International. Thank you Aisling, Wally and class teacher Ceilia Mann and welcome to Jardin Galerie.

In late 2005 another parent from Les Lilas, Rumiana Krasteva contacted
her cousin Daniela Ignatova. Daniela, an English teacher in Vratza
Bulgaria, initated contacts with three schools in Vratza, including
Vassil Kanchov High School. These students won a prise for their work
and it was shown on local television stations. This work from two high
schools and an elementary school was featured in a special Holiday
exhibition at jardingalerie.org here.
